In order to facilitate faster searches, Web 2.0 sites make the most of tags or keywords for the media housed at their sites. These can be computer generated or produced by the contributors themselves at the time of input or uploading. Tags attached to media files also facilitate fuzzy logic that allows some Web 2.0 resources to “magically” predict end users’ interests. Tagging itself is fast becoming an important skill for our students as the overload of information being created by the Internet is necessitating better ways of retrieving data.   Tags assist greatly in this process. Language teachers can practice tagging by using a social bookmarking resources such as Delicious to prepare course reading or reviewing lists as well as encouraging students to develop this valuable expertise.
